Gameboy Emulator and ROMs for mac? - trading pokemon on mac emulator

Hello, I have a MacBook and trying to get a working emulator and ROM for pokemon card game for gameboy color. I have an emulator and rom but every time I start it immediately crashes. I think in the ROM with the matter and may not be compatible with Mac, but I'm not sure. Can anyone help?
